Exact scanned source stamp; a cached descriptor is not fresh merely because its name matches.

Record

Complete descriptor for one input. Personal labels never enter this shared acoustic artifact.

extract

Decode/resample with existing Aède and FlacCompagnon primitives into bounded descriptor state. Checkpoints may wait for foreground playback, or refuse cancellation/source replacement. The active computation budget excludes checkpoint waiting; blocked OS reads retain platform limits.

load

Read at most eight KiB, refusing symlinks, malformed records and a mismatched source/profile.

save

Publish each completed source atomically. Interrupted jobs retain earlier source records.
