Aède — the heart of the music library.
Read folders, extract a catalog of interlinked entities from them, answer questions about it, keep what the user thinks of it, and copy a selection of it out to a player or a card.
The formats a library is made of are parsed here, from their
specifications; lofty covers the long tail
of containers that do not deserve a parser of their own.
Modules§
- accounts
- Installation persistence facade for the independent account domain.
- achievements
- Owner-private discoveries derived from retained personal evidence; locked definitions never leave the engine.
- acoustic
- Acoustic analysis of catalogued albums with FlacCompagnon’s Rust library.
- acoustid
- AcoustID: what a recording is, asked of its sound.
- analysis
- FlacCompagnon analyses produced in-process or imported from a saved report.
- artwork
- The picture inside an audio file, pulled out of it.
- audio_
features - Versioned original-audio features beside the catalogue, never inside source files or personal opinions.
- audit
- What a file really contains, as opposed to what it claims.
- backup
- One file holding everything Aède knows, so that a disk failure costs a scan and not a year of listening.
- clock
- Unix timestamps shared by catalog and conclusion stores.
- conclusions
- Costly conclusions about audio bytes, independent of the rebuildable catalog.
- contributors
- Source-backed artist identities for contributors absent from local tags.
- copy
- Copying a selection out of the library, keeping the tree it sits in.
- coverart
- The Cover Art Archive: the front image of a record, when it has one.
- credit_
coverage - Read-only coverage of MusicBrainz recording, work and edition credits.
- discogs
- Discogs label profiles reached through a MusicBrainz URL relationship.
- doctor
- Library diagnosis.
- fanarttv
- Fanart.tv music artwork: artist portraits, logos, banners and backgrounds, album covers and disc art, plus record-label logos.
- ffmpeg
- The one place that knows where ffmpeg is, and what to say when it is not.
- fingerprint
- The acoustic fingerprint of a file: what the audio is, not what it says.
- graph
- One read-only view of every relationship Aède can justify.
- http
- The one place this program reaches the network.
- json
- Minimal JSON implementation (reading + writing), with no external dependency.
- listening
- Owner-private completion evidence, independent of the bounded recent history.
- lrclib
- Asking LRCLIB for the words, and reading what it answers.
- lyrics
- Lyrics that are already there: in the tags, or in an
.lrcbeside the file. - missing
- Missing studio albums are derived from trusted discographies, never catalog entities.
- model
- The data model: a graph of linked entities, not a list of files.
- musicbrainz
- Reading what MusicBrainz answers, and deciding whether it is about us.
- parental
- Protected account listening policy, temporal budgets and visible catalogues.
- places
- Where the artists on the shelf are from.
- playback
- In-memory playback order and transport state for a catalog selection.
- playlist
- M3U playlists: the one place that knows how to write one.
- query
- A query language over the catalog and over what the user wrote about it.
- scan
- Directory traversal and parallel file reading.
- sources
- What other sources say about the library.
- spectrum
- Spectrogram pictures, drawn by ffmpeg, one per track.
- stats
- Statistics on the catalog.
- store
- Catalog persistence.
- store_
lock - Process-wide coordination for the JSON documents in one Aède data folder.
- tags
- Reading of metadata and audio properties.
- text
- Text normalization: this is the piece that decides whether “The Beatles”, “Beatles, The” and “beatles” designate the same entity.
- user
- What the user writes: favourites, ratings, notes, tags, listening history.
- wikipedia
- Wikipedia, reached through Wikidata: the prose MusicBrainz does not hold.
Constants§
- FLACCOMPAGNON_
VERSION - Version of the linked FlacCompagnon core from the workspace lockfile.
