Function resolve_threads

pub fn resolve_threads(requested: usize) -> usize

How many threads a run should use: what was asked for, or what the machine offers.

Shared with spectrum, which spawns one ffmpeg per track and has exactly the same question to answer. Two defaults that could disagree about what --threads with no value means is one too many.
