Rebuilds a catalog from its JSON document.
The version is checked before anything else, so an old file is rejected
rather than half-decoded. Identifiers are then verified to be contiguous:
the model indexes entities by position, and a gap would silently shift
every relation. Present tables, lists and polymorphic references must be
well formed; absent optional legacy fields retain their migration defaults.
Optional audio precision/channel counts accept absence or null, but
present values must be integral u16 values rather than truncated numbers.
Known file scalars and tag tables must have their declared JSON types;
malformed values cannot be rewritten as empty/default file metadata.
